Nourishing Chocolate Superfood Smoothie

I love smoothies for how easy and convenient they can be, but also because of how much nutrients you can pack into them! There are so many different smoothie ideas out there, so you can always have a lot of variety. They are especially nice in the summer, when you just want cooling foods to combat the heat. This smoothie is packed with superfoods like cacao and spirulina. Spirulina is also full of protein, with 39g of protein per serving! The ingredients in this smoothie will help to keep your heart healthy, is rich in antioxidants, and lowers inflammation in the body. The best part of it though – it tastes like CHOCOLATE! Now that’s a smoothie I can get behind.

  • 1 cup of unsweetened almond OR coconut milk

  • 1 cup of spinach

  • 1 tbls. cacao powder

  • 1 tbls. almond butter

  • 1 tbls. coconut oil

  • 1 tbls. unpasteurized honey

  • 1 cup of fresh mixed berries

  • 1 tsp. spirulina

  • 3-6 ice cubes

Just put all of the ingredients into a blender – blend & enjoy! Quick and easy! Makes a great breakfast, snack, or post workout meal!
